Back To The Future
What else is there to do after a bad day other than go to the theatre? Nothing.
Well, there’s probably a lot that would hurt my bank account less, but that’s no fun. That’s how I ended up at The Adelphi Theatre one fateful evening after a stressful day of writing essays and editing videos for uni.
As far as rush tickets go, this seat had a cracking view and for £25?!

Thank you to our lord and saviour TodayTix, you’ve always been there for me <3
Honestly, I was super excited to see this show, I had gotten tickets for my family to go see it at Christmas (I couldn’t afford to get myself a ticket at the time but still bought theirs anyway because I’m just so kind like that) and the feedback they had given me was enthusiastic to say the least.
My dad and I have always been huge fans of the film so the high praise from him left me expecting big things and WOW did it live up to his hype.
First, the venue is plastered in posters for both the show and the film, the 80’s theme was carried throughout and honestly, I LOVE a themed theatre. It really makes my heart happy.

All I can say about this show is that it is SO fun! After having a tough day, this really was the best cure, I quite literally smiled from start to finish. The vibes are just immaculate, it was enough like the film to give me that warm nostalgic feeling whilst still being its own original creation.
I was lucky enough to see the wonderful Roger Bart as Doc Brown and he was easily the highlight of the show for me, first being able to emulate the iconic voice that Christopher Lloyd gave to the character in the film made for such a wonderful performance. If you know the film, you know that the voice of Doc is a HUGE part of the character, it couldn’t have been better.
The classic ‘Johnny Be Good’ moment, made so memorable by Michael J. Fox had the audience clapping along and laughing together. Marty was right their kids did love it, and we loved Ben Joyce doing it!
Ben Joyce did a phenomenal job at leading this show, I can imagine it was a tough challenge to take on such a living room classic, but he did amazing and honestly I expected nothing less from a fellow Swansea Jack!
This show is great fun for both theatre newbies and veterans alike. Guaranteed fun with a little bit of magic at the end to give you that giddy theatre feeling we all know and love.
